Aid for Women staff members joined with hundreds of pro-life individuals last weekend in the Fifth Annual Rockford Walk for Life and Family, sponsored by the Rockford Family Institute.
Participants met at the Rockford City Hall, greeting visitors, answering questions and gathering for a rally in support of all statewide efforts that respect the lives of unborn children. An Opening Prayer was offered by Fr. John McNamara, Spiritual Director of the Life and Family Evangelization Office, Diocese of Rockford, and the Keynote Address was given by Jill Stanek, a respected Pro-Life Nurse and Activist. The event was designed with hopes of having an impact long after the gathering concluded. As the website states, “We walk to make abortion unthinkable in Rockford and beyond.”
Aid for Women has been a participating sponsor in this event for several years. As Anne-Marie Miller, Senior Client Advocate describes, “The Rockford Walk for Life is a good way for us to connect with other pro-life people and parishes in this area, reminding them that our Rockford center is now open and ready to support women facing unplanned pregnancies.” Anne-Marie adds, “It really is a terrific community outreach event that celebrates life, allowing us to be witnesses and to be a voice for the most vulnerable in our state.”
